Those links are great, Erik! Thanks.

Has anybody tried vermicomposting? I live in an apartment/townhouse and have limited space. My "garden" is primarily a container garden, and I really don't generate much brown matter except in the autumn. Also, my diet is veggie intensive, so I generate a lot of kitchen scraps. I'm looking for a composting method that I can keep in my unheated garage -- temps got down to -5 last night. I know some vermicomposters keep them in their kitchens, but I haven't yet warmed up to the idea of purposefully keeping worms where I prepare my meals -- maybe with time and experience in this method of composting, but I'm not there yet.

I've also considered more "traditional" layered methods, but as I've said ... I generate far more green matter than brown. I know some people use paper, but I worry about chemicals in the inks.

Anyway... any advice/experience you might offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Erika made one with a 55 gallon drum, a wood frame of 4x4's and 4 casters which the drum turned on. It looked relatively simple and very sturdy. It looked similar to this except that the 4x4 frame held it up off the ground for easier access.
